Twilight Hawkers Market, Perth City

Forrest Place, Perth City. Open every Friday night 4.30-9pm, until April 14.

What started with 12 stalls a few years ago has grown into a heaving central marketplace. Perth’s first hawkers market now has about 40 vendors taking over the city’s revamped Forrest Chase every Friday in summer. Great for grabbing an affordable meal while shopping, before a show or a night out.

Maylands Hawkers Market

28 Eighth Avenue, Maylands. Open every Saturday night 5-9pm, until March 28.

Run by volunteers, this family- friendly market is back on the lawn area in front of The Rise for a second year. In addition to the 15 hawker stalls, November will see the introduction of a shopping- aisle area with gourmet handmade food products in the building’s walkway. Before Christmas there’ll be arts and craft stalls too.

FIG JAM Hawkers Market, Subiaco

Subiaco Train Station Square. Open every Thursday 5-9pm, until December 18.

This brand new hawkers market started last month. FIG JAM stands for “Food is great, just ask me”. Run by the Vic Park TGIF crew and dubbed “the home of soul food”, FIG JAM will provide an affordable Thursday night dining option in Subi.

TGIF Hawkers Market, East Victoria Park

John McMillan Park (between Albany Highway, Kent and Sussex St), East Victoria Park. Open every Friday, 5.30-8.30pm.

The cheap and cheerful year-round night market moves from a laneway to a grassy oval and will stay there all summer. Launched in June, it has been attracting more than 4000 punters each week. Along with the hawkers’ stands that offer a great mix of international cuisines, local restaurants (including The Classroom and The Merrywell) have also set up stalls.

VQ Night Market, Freo

Victoria Quay, Fremantle. Open every Wednesday, 5-9pm, until February 11.

Now waterside on the dock next to B Shed, the popular hawkers market this year adopts a Carnivale-theme. There’ll be South American and Spanish cuisine, live Latino music and entertainment and licensed bars.

Guildford Twilight Market

Stirling Square, cnr Meadow and Swan St (next to Guildford Train Station). Open on the last Friday of every month, 5-9pm, through to April (excluding December).

Launched in October, the volunteer-run, not-for-profit monthly market boasts a hawker-style food lane with an array of vendors selling international cuisines. There are also stalls selling an eclectic mix of handcrafted, upcycled, antique and vintage items, plus local food products on offer.
