Known globally as one of the best DJs in the music industry, Tiesto has worked with superstars including Kanye West, Bono and Katy Perry — and for his latest project, the Dutch trance icon has joined forces with a Perth entrepreneur.

Tiesto, whose real name is Tijs Michiel Verwest, has collaborated with Dave Thompson of Audiofly to create the ClubLife by Tiesto in-ear headphone range, which promises to deliver exquisite sound quality for diehard music aficionados.

Tiesto was in Perth to headline the Stereosonic Festival in November, he told AAA Weekend that out of all the companies in the world knocking on his door, Audiofly was the clear choice of brand to work with to develop the headphones.

“It’s very important for me to work with people who have the same passion and the same vision, ” he said.

“Passion is everything and when I talked to Dave from the very first meeting I felt the passion that he has. I knew he was the guy I wanted to work with and he could have been in Bangladesh or anywhere, it didn’t matter where he was from.”

For Thompson, who launched Audiofly only in 2011, collaborating with the biggest DJ on the planet was nothing short of a dream come true.

“To have an artist of Tiesto’s calibre come through and validate what we’re doing as a company is very special and pretty flattering, ” he said.

“To get the chance to build a brand with him and capture his vision is a really exciting and satisfying thing.”

A couple of weeks after Tiesto shared the new range with his 18 million facebook fans the product was sold out online. Leaving fans waiting in anticipation for Audiofly's new King Street store, which opened its doors early last month.

“I didn’t know what to expect but I put them up a few weeks ago and online they’re already sold out, ” Tiesto said. “Fans love them and they love all of the different styles.”
