Perth was named as one of 14 finalists in the international online search to find the world’s seven “wonder” cities.

“The New7Wonders Cities will be a forum for discussing everything from urban planning to metropolitan governance, from tourism to architecture,” said Bernard Weber, Founder-President of New7Wonders, launching the campaign in 2012. (new7wonders.com).

In a poll that began 2 years ago with more than 300 nominated cities, the final 14 were named by the New7Wonders Foundation at a ceremony in Munich early November last year.

The other finalists consisted of  Barcelona, Beirut, Chicago, Doha, Durban, Havana, Kuala Lumpur, La Paz, London, Mexico City, Quito, Reykjavik and Vigan.

The seven wonders were announced on December 7, after several million people lodged their votes at www.new7wonders.com.

Perth missing out on the final 7, with the winners for New7Wonders Cities including: Beirut, Doha, Durban, Havana, Kuala Lumpur, La Paz and Vigan.

New 7 wonders have also released the new 7 wonders of nature and the new 7 wonders of the world.
