Tired of having to stop at the shops after work to buy dinner ingredients or sacrificing family time to do the laundry?

It seems you are not alone as professionals and busy parents increasingly turn to door-to-door delivery services to help them get through their day.

A growing number of such businesses are setting up in Perth.

After years of listening to colleagues stress about what they will cook for dinner after work, bankers Mark Rawlings and Paul Baumgartner started food delivery service You Plate It.

They put six meal options up on their website each week for subscribers and deliver the recipes and fresh ingredients needed to their door.

“We were noticing that people are very busy and when you work in an office, everyone about 4pm is like, ‘What am I going to have for dinner tonight’, ” Mr Baumgartner said.

“They were searching the internet, printing off recipes and then queuing up at Coles before they got home really late.”

After single dad Matthew Elliott received a golden handshake, he was out of work and looking for ways to spend more time with his three daughters.

In August, he started the Door to Door Laundry Service.

It picks up laundry from homes, businesses and sporting clubs and delivers it back clean the next day. The majority of his clients are working families.

“All I wanted was to have more time with my kids and that is what motivated me to start the business, ” Mr Elliott said.
