Pets are a part of the family and we all want to look after them as best we can. But did you know there are a number of foods which humans enjoy that can make your furry friends very sick?

Here are some of the foods that should be kept away from pets:

• Chocolate can make a dog’s heartbeat fast and irregular. It’s almost like poison for dogs.

• Onions and garlic can cause sickness and make dogs short of breath.

• Tomatoes can upset a cat’s stomach.

• Macadamia nuts can temporarily weaken a pet’s muscles.

• Grapes and raisins can make dogs vomit.

These foods aren’t safe for pets because they have different bodies from humans and react in another way to certain chemicals and ingredients. So next time you’re thinking of sharing your delicious meal with your pet, remember these facts.
